Since our work with La Chenille Qui Fait des Trous, we have been talking about ourselves in French using the first person singular of the verbs Aimer, Avoir, and Etre.

Everyone should be practicing the following sentences: Je suis...., J'aime/Je n'aime pas.....and J'ai.......

Bonus Work/ At Home Practice:

  • Make a poster collage about yourself using the sentences above and matching them to images that represent what you have written. For example, cut out a picture of a Ballerina and label it J'aime danser!
  • Show someone at home how to play go fish in French. Simply use a regular deck of cards, and use your French numbers. You will first have to google the words for King, Queen, Jack and Ace. ;
We have also been talking a bit about the French Revolution. The girls were reading The Tale of Desperaux, and the name Antoinette came up as a French connection vocabulary word. That led us into a discussion of the queen herself and the plight of the peasants. There have been quite a few spirited reenactments in class of "Let them eat Cake!"And yes, we know she didn't really say that. :) I was amazed at their knowledge of the dates and causes of the American Revolution and it was nice to be able to reference it in our brief discussion about the French Revolution.

Our final video presentation of The Very Hungry Caterpillar in French.
